DOE$ MONEY GROW ON TREE$ ?

We want to offer you as a timberland-owner, the opportunity to earn a profit from an idle forest while maintaining its condition and appeal.  Mature timber can be paid for up front in many cases.

At Beller Logging & Excavating, we use an environment-friendly, cut-to-length system.   Rather than skidding, a forwarder is used to carry the logs out of the woods and prevent damage to standing trees.  Storm damaged or uprooted trees can be harvested if you wish.  We keep stump height as low as possible.  All of our work is done in accord with sound forest management principles, and existing woods roads maintained to their original condition.

You determine which trees will be harvested and/or set a minimum stump diameter.  If you need assistance we can advise you.  Just tell us what you have in mind.  Are you interested in clearing the land for development, looking to create a healthy forest, or do you want all the value you can get from the timber you have?  We would be happy to visit your property and provide a free estimate to local clients.

Full coverage of insurance and liability is assured.  Reliable references will be provided upon request.  Please contact us if you are interested in selling the timber from your woodland.  We'll be looking forward to your reply.

THE TRUTH ABOUT LOGGERS & LOGGING

Myth:    Loggers practice “clear cutting,” which damages the environment.

Reality:    Clear-cutting — the removal of all trees in a tract — is not common in the Northeast.  It is an acceptable practice in some areas of the country and for certain species of trees.  Today’s loggers apply sound forest management practice to selectively harvest trees so that new forests can flourish.

*As the stewards of our forests, loggers don't destroy trees; they promote their growth.

*New high-tech machines, sophisticated forest management techniques and greater environmental awareness have transformed the logging profession.

*Loggers are skilled, trained professionals.  They support and encourage environmentally sensitive use of science and technology.

*Thanks to strategic thinning, which helps prevent disease and fire, forests are healthier and more plentiful today than a half century ago.

*Wood is safer for the environment that products that use non-renewable natural resources, such as plastics and steel.

*Managed forests provide better habitats for wildlife.

Myth:    Logging is bad for the environment.  There is less wood growing in our states today than 50 years ago.

Reality:    Because modern loggers approach the job with the long-term health of the forest in mind, the number of trees growing in the  Northeast has more than doubled in the past half century.
